Safeguarding Policy

Beats in Bloom is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child and young person who takes lessons with us. This policy explains the steps we take to keep young learners safe, and what to do if you ever have a concern.

Our commitment

Every child has the right to learn in a safe, supportive environment, free from harm. Beats in Bloom takes this responsibility seriously in every lesson, whether delivered one-to-one or as part of a family session.

Enhanced DBS check

Luke holds an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate — the UK Government's highest level of background check, confirming he is suitable to work with children. A copy of the current certificate is available on request.

Professional membership

Luke is a member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM), the UK's professional body for musicians. As a member, he adheres to the ISM's Code of Conduct and safeguarding guidance for music teachers.

During lessons

• Lessons take place in a dedicated, purpose-built teaching studio — never in a private, closed-off space with no visibility.
• Parents and guardians are always welcome to stay, wait nearby, or watch during their child's lesson.
• Lesson times, attendance, and progress are recorded through the online client portal.
• Any concerns about a child's wellbeing raised during a lesson are treated seriously and acted on promptly.

Photography and video

Photos or video of a child are never taken or used publicly (including on our website or social media) without the explicit written consent of a parent or guardian. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by contacting us.

Online safety

Our client portal is protected by individual login and only accessible to the relevant family and Beats in Bloom. Communication with under-18s about lessons is always conducted through parents/guardians or the portal, not private personal messaging.

If you have any concern about the welfare or safety of a child in connection with Beats in Bloom, please contact us immediately at info@beatsinbloom.com. If your concern relates to Luke directly, or you feel unable to raise it with us, you can contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000, or your local authority's Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
